LIGHT
In the
first place they must have adequate light in terms of quality and quantity.
Floating plants require less light because they will be closer to this being on
the surface, so they will not have light problem, but if they can obstruct the
passage of light to the rest of the plants so you should not let them reproduce
much.
CO2
CO2 is
very useful to apply it in the aquarium not only because it is an essential
nutrient for photosynthesis, but because when applying this, it usually
decreases the pH of the water which is conducive to most plants and at the same
time this brings I get a decrease in algae. CO2 can be achieved simply and
economically by the yeast method with aquarium
tweezers.
FERTILIZERS
Fertilizers
should be applied when you have light and co2 enough, otherwise it is used very
slowly by plants and therefore the surplus that is in your aquarium will be
used by algae.
SUBSTRATUM
The substrate
from fish
aquarium maintenance is not strictly necessary for plants, in fact in
my large aquarium I have no substrate and I grow very well, but that yes, I add
liquid fertilizer to the water. The substrate can be obtained at any animal
store and if you want to put the plants thank you. If you do not put it will be
necessary to bury some ball of microelements between the roots from time to
time.
WATER
CHEMISTRY
As for the
chemical characteristics of water, plants usually feel more comfortable at a
slightly acid pH and soft hardness but can live perfectly in neutral pH and
medium hardness and even high as long as they have good light and co2
conditions.
